About this Yacht
Why look at a 75' monohull for a live-aboard vessel and large entertainment area when you can buy the same features in a Crusader Catamaran. Finally a boat doesn't pitch and hobby horse like all other boats....... The Crusader semi-swath catamaran. This 18.0m model Power Catamaran is a hard chine, bulbous bows, with racked transom sterns. Plus fitted with motor yacht sails now a heads of the curve with escalating fuel prices. Geared for long range fuel efficient cruising, cruising speed 16 knots and sprint around 22 knots with 2 x 1960lt fuel tanks = 3920 lts total.
This new hull incorporates elliptical bulbs to improve the speed/power performance and significantly dampen the pitching motions. As a side benefit, these bulbs attracts dolphins who will sit comfortably in front of each bulb, their tails at an angle of 15 degrees, getting a free ride from the force field around the bulb. This same force field cancels the bow divergent wave seen peeling off high speed cruisers without bulbs. The wave resistance is the major absorber of horsepower, so the bulb optimisation was studied carefully.
The internal main deck area has a lounge forward for 8 people. Aft of this is the galley to port and dining for 8 to starboard. While many cruising yachts have the galley below the main deck, the Crusader designers have heeded the wishes of female cruisers that overwhelmingly prefer to have the galley sited well aft, amidst the entertainment and conversation, and close to the special (covered) outdoor lounging areas on the Crusader. The aft cockpit is the width of an 80’ monohull, and able to seat 12 to 14 adults. This has been enhanced by the closure of a starboard quarter access, and the vessel is geared for steering and berthing on the portside or stern only. The steering position is on the flybridge port side and the owner can easily berth port side to, or stern to, and having the propellors 5.3m apart, this makes the manoeuvring and berthing quite easy, even without a bow thruster,
The starboard side has a low angle stairway with bow rollers to easily launch or recover a 4.2m dinghy or jet ski, negating the need for anon-deck crane.
